EDI Diversity Qualifications
Key staff with an E&D qualification show organisational commitment to equality and help ‘embed’ a culture of fairness and understanding.

SETC has joined forces with HTP Training, a Grade 1 (Outstanding) training provider, to deliver two nationally recognised qualifications in the field of equality and diversity, namely the Level 1 Award in Disability and the Level 2 Award in Equality and Diversity.

Both qualifications are one-day sessions and assessment is by multiple choice examination forming the final hour of the course. The Level 2 Award will also involve some individual pre-course work (approximately 3 hours, dependant on candidate knowledge and experience).

*£85.00 per candidate subject to minimum fee of £850.00 plus mileage, reasonable accomodation if required and VAT

LEVEL 2 EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY

EDI qualifications are accredited on the National Qualifications Framework and on the Qualifications and Credit Framework. For housing providers, this qualification is ideal for those within the organisation with an interest in, or specific responsibilities for, promoting equality and diversity. It could include policy officers, equality champions, managers and all staff (and maybe some service users) on equality forums, to name but a few.

The advantages of gaining recognised qualifications for key members of staff on equality and diversity are numerous, including:

Our trainer, Jack Moore delivers extensively to housing providers. He is the principal associate trainer specialising in equality and diversity for the Chartered Institute of Housing and its consultancy arm, ConsultCIH.

This qualification is for those who wish to gain underpinning and knowledge and understand of Equality and Diversity. It will specifically enable delegates to understand the legal issues, conduct, codes of practice and policies surrounding the creation of a culture that promotes equality and values diversity.

Assessment Methods

To gain the qualification, candidates must successfully pass a 30 question multiple choice examination.

Level 1 Award in Disability Awareness
This generic awareness programme is based around the Disability Discrimination Act and applies, in common with the Act, to all employers and providers of services. The programme also includes an overview of the disability related proposals in the new Equality Bill for 2009. Overall it is designed to provide delegates with a positive outlook on disability and the need to identify and remove disabling barriers.

Course Syllabus

Learning outcomes:

1. Develop knowledge and understanding of the differences between disability and impairment
2. Acquire an understanding of the social model of disability
3. Understand the wider context of disability and how this should be put into practice in the workplace
4. Explore the barriers that are faced by disabled people
5. Gain an understanding of the duties and legislative acts that have been introduced to ensure disabled people are not discriminated against
